Firefox and IRIs

Uncategorized 12 April 2005 | 1 Comment

Continuing on my previous post on making Firefox conform to the IRI standard, here’s how to make your address bar look much nicer when visiting IRIs.

Load up about:config, and change these values to:

network.standard-url.escape-utf8
false
network.IDN_show_punycode
false

Of course, this will leave you more vulnerable to domain-spoofing attacks, so I recommend using the IDN Info extension to protect you.

One thing I have been wondering about is how it’ll handle ambiguous situations involving percent signs. Guess I’ll figure out in the future!

  1. Excellent, thank you!

Perhaps you could also list that one extra tweak you described in your previous post on the subject here? I kind of looked over that one at first!
